MERRY.

Now, before you say, “Awwww!” you really need to take a closer look first. It’s a not so funny, but funny, Christmas card. I found the zinc cut at The Book Arts Program and the text was inspired next. I couldn’t resist. I’ve never printed with a zinc cut before and I’ve hardly set type either. It was fun and I ought to do more of it. Especially since zinc cuts aren’t copyrighted and there are so many hilarious and vintage imagery. Plus I really love the challenge of being limited to what’s around me. For instance, the red nose is a 24 pt. punctuation period.

I printed these a week ago on a Vandercook 4 and this morning I scored, trimmed and packaged with French Paper Co. Pop-Tone Wild Cherry Envelopes. I really like the dark silver and faded red color combination on the Fluorescent White Crane’s Lettra.

It’s suddenly October and it’s surprisingly really hot outside but I can’t stop thinking about holiday cards, tags and more.
